Veteranencup Report 2005

The 11th Veterans Cup was at May, 1st of 2005. Like in the last years also in 2005 there were again lots of veterans in the hometown of oldschool BMX in Weiterstadt. This year 35 riders were on the start and additional some dozens of further old buddys as visitors. This time friends from SE Racing were in the majority and one guy had a SE tattoo on his back. Its amazing how far BMX love can go!

This time there were also one woman beside 34 mens at the start: Pia Hetkamp (formerly known as Hoehmann) was riding a BMX bike the first time since 1990. RESPECT! Here you see Pia (#49) with her brother Kay Hoehmann (#40) who was as fast as always.

Check out this picture: A starting gate fully packed with cool old jerseys: Murray, two times Skyway, Diamond Back, Bicycle Motocross Action and Schauff. A real veterans heart is jumping by seeing this.

Second berm half final: Super sequence from a big crash. Pit Jandt (#20) is in front, but Ralf Mauritz (#49), Alexis Fotakis (#22) and Sascha Schmidt (#23) are right behind him. Just a few meters after the track was too small for four people and Pit was doing a brake for all. He smashed into the dust and the remaining three right into him. That hurts! I felt the pain in my hand for around 4 months. Guido Hannich (#9) saw the action by following the riders, passing them by and moved into the finals. Check out Guidos oldschool Redline outfit!

Oli Kienzle was there too, but he was not racing this time. Here you see hím in discussion with Ralf and Kay Hoehmann. Oli, from where do you get all the old clothes? And more important: How can you still fit into this old clothes like the Bill Waters pants?

Agi Ramalho (#2) extremely stylish over the big double in front of Giovanni Vecchio (#4) and Peter Jandt (#20). Agi is racing in a different world. Last year he was only second but therefore he was again number one this year.

Marco Mueller (#6) in front of Michael Grelak (#5) and Marco Vaeth (#3). Marco did probably the highest air of the day in this picture over the big double.

Celebrating the champions from the Veterans Cup 2005: Agi (1) ahead of Marco Mueller (2) and Marco Vaeth (3), then Giovanni Vecchio, Michael Grelak (with his kid), Nico Skordas, Guido Hannich and Sascha Schmidt.

King of Oldschool: Here you see Dieter Schadowski giving the three coolest veterans the prices for the King of Oldschool contest. This year Frank Bunk, Dirk Waehler and Stephan Prantl were the best oldschool riders.
